Cyber security should be interesting, exciting, engaging and most importantly fun. You are going to spend a lot of time working, so you should always have a job you love to do. I love my job because it is an amazing feeling when you can actually help someone. With all of the threats and attacks that are occurring, cyber security can be frustrating and daunting. At SANS we see many students come into class discouraged and overwhelmed because nothing they have tried worked.
As we go through the week and give students practical solutions that work. It is exciting to watch them absorb the knowledge and see them connect the dots. As they learn skills that they can directly apply when they go back to work, we turn hopelessness into hopeful excitement. It is amazing to see a students walk into our classes having no clue what to do and leave with a skip in their step because they now have a roadmap that will actually work and help make their organization secure.
I look forward to continuing to make the world a more secure place, one student at a time.
